Aya Revolution

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 13, 2009, 10:44 AM

I'm heading off to the Aya Revolution convention early tomorrow morning. I've been looking forward to it for about three months now, so it seems very strange that it's right around the corner! It's both very exciting and extremely daunting at the same time! This will be my very first time wearing cosplay! :noes:

Regardless of my nerves, the weekend's going to be a whole lot of fun! I'm going to the convention with my best friend who was extremely kind to go with me. I just worry that the weekend will be so busy that I'll be constantly shattered, I don't operate very well without sleep!

I don't expect that I'll know anybody there except for a couple of people, but I have these dinky little Chipper badges that I can give to people:
In other news; I'm still working on my sketch requests, don't worry I haven't forgotten about them! I've had a few requests that turned into art trades which have slowed me down. When it's a trade I feel more inclined to make something marginally decent. The piece I'm colouring now took four of my daily sketches to eventually draw something that I was happy with!

I'll be continuing to upload new sketches to my scrapbook, but you can also see them by keeping an eye on this gallery: [link]

Also, while you're here; please check out the awesome artwork that I've received from other deviants below! I love you guys!!

Catch you all next week!
Lou.

Sketches (Updated)

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 16, 2009, 10:51 PM

Apologies for my recent inactivity in regards to uploading new artwork lately. I've been spending a lot of time updating my website as well as being away on holiday for a few days (I went to visit family in the Lake District, nothing too fancy!). I've not had as much time to work on things, which isn't helped by the fact that the pieces I'm working on at the moment are pretty time consuming. I can assure you however that I have stuff on the way, deviantART is never far from my mind!

I've also been thinking about forcing myself to draw a sketch everyday. I won't be heavily enforcing it, but if I stick to it I get used to a routine fairly easily. It would be something very beneficial for me, the practice will greatly help with my speed, accuracy and motivation. I'm sure you're well aware of how difficult it is to pick up the pencil after not drawing for a while!

So, seeing as I'll be drawing everyday; please feel free to ask for requests! Please don't be afraid to ask, it would help me even more! It would only be a small pencil drawing though, unless it captivates me enough to pursue it further.

I hope everybody's well and enjoying the Summer!!

Update:
Thank you very much for the great response, I've already started working through the requests! There's no need to ask if you're allowed to have a request, just ask for what you'd like! Please make sure to include some kind of reference too.

Also, did I mention that they won't be very good? XD I'll be uploading finished sketches into my scrapbook, but you can also see them by keeping an eye on this gallery: [link]

A Few Things

Journal Entry: Sat May 2, 2009, 6:27 AM

Firstly, congratulations and all hail ~lordillpalazo for becoming my 100th watcher! He wins himself a free request for which he ambiguously asked for something in the style of steam punk, Victorian or cowboy... Which is fantastic, I love all three settings! However, I feel really guilty for having so much creative power over a request! It's made me dizzy with ideas, hopefully it'll result in something interesting!

Secondly, Spring has hit the British Isles and the large cherry tree in our front garden recently burst into blossom. I don't particularly want to submit any of my photography to DeviantART (mine's not very good), but if you're interested you can see them over at my website:

Thirdly, I finally caved in and splashed out on the upgrade to Photoshop CS4! I'm going to try my best not to brag about it, but I am going to briefly mention that I love it so very much!

Fourthly, apologies for the somewhat random journal entry!

Two Years on DA

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 2, 2009, 1:31 AM

Today marks my anniversary of joining deviantART, or DAnniversary. It's been two years since I first signed up, although to be honest I was barely active for the first year. The time has passed so quickly, it feels like no time at all!

You can probably tell where I'm heading with this journal... Don't worry, I'm not going to take this as an opportunity to thank everybody for supporting me and gush about how much I love you all. Okay, so that's a complete lie; but I promise I'll keep it short!

When on the internet you have a certain expectation that you'll receive a certain level of abuse. Whether it's death threats against your Gnome's life in an MMO, or defamatory comments on a YouTube video for no apparent reason. The internet and it's anonymity has a nasty habit of cultivating idiocy and general unsolicited behaviour.

DeviantART has been a bit of an oddity to me. In my two years on deviantART not a single bad word has been spoken to me, absolutely nothing to cause me to be upset. I know that it can't last forever, but I'm appreciative for the time that I spent here already. Maybe it's kudos to the deviantART community, or maybe ninja-like moderators, or perhaps it's just that I'm extremely lucky.

Regardless, I've received some the best support and nicest comments on deviantART that I've ever received in my life. To all of my friends (you know who you are!) and to everybody that quietly watches me, thank you! Thank you so much!

If you feel nauseous after reading this, you will find complementary paper bags have been provided underneath your seats.

Where's the pause button?

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 23, 2009, 12:06 PM

Many people seem to be having art blocks lately, I hope that it's not something contagious! I have a sore throat, is that one of the early symptoms? An art block isn't something that I've really experienced for myself, I never seem to be short on ideas. My hindrance is finding the time to actually bring my ideas to fruition.

I'd love to just be able to just leave my job and spend all day drawing, or even just get a part-time job. Yet with the recession in full force and thousands of people loosing their jobs, I really should be more grateful for my job than I currently am.

On the upside, the days are gradually getting longer and it's not so cold anymore. I've started drawing my comic again in the early mornings, bringing with it a nice feeling of regularity that I've missed. Inking doesn't take much brain power and is something that I can do whilst I'm still half asleep, so it's almost like extra free time!

Anyway, I'll go do something more productive than typing this entry in my journal. Not that I don't enjoy our time together! In fact, just between you and me; you're probably my favourite anonymous journal reader!
